This side yard was originally sodded by the builder, but since it was a drainage corridor from the front yard to the back, it quickly became a soggy mess. A flagstone path was laid at the lowest point of the drainage corridor. Gaps were planted with a low maintenance ground cover that could absorb and withstand temporary water flow. The perimeters of the path were filled in with a tapestry of low maintenance perennials and shrubs. This difficult to maintain eyesore became a beautiful and useful feature of the landscape.
